Everything people ask before their first Ukki deal — what it costs, how the money is protected, who checks the car, and who does the paperwork.

Ukki basics

What the platform is and who it is for.

Ukki is a customer-to-customer marketplace for used cars in India. You bring the car — and the buyer, if you already have one — and Ukki runs everything that makes the sale safe: identity verification, a certified inspection, protected payments, financing, loan closure, the RC ownership transfer and doorstep delivery.

No. Ukki never buys, owns or resells your car. The sale is always between a buyer and a seller — we are the platform that verifies both sides, holds the money safely and handles the paperwork. That is why sellers get a genuine market price, set between real people rather than by a dealer’s buying desk. Dealers who sell through Ukki may take your old car in part exchange, but the figure comes from that dealer, and you see it before you commit to anything.

Yes, when you are buying from a dealer on Ukki. On a dealer’s listing, tell us the registration number of the car you want to part-exchange; the dealer looks at it and comes back with what they will allow, and you accept or decline before making your offer. If you accept, that amount comes off what you pay into escrow and you hand the old car over at delivery. Ukki itself never buys the car, and private sellers cannot take one in exchange.

Yes, and this is one of the most common ways Ukki is used. If you are selling to a friend, a colleague or a neighbour, you can start a direct deal, invite the other person, and use Ukki purely for the risky parts — the payment, the paperwork and the RC transfer. You have already agreed the price; we make sure nothing goes wrong after that.

Inspection, logistics and RTO services run through our partner network, so coverage varies by city and is expanding. When you start a deal, the app shows what is available at your pincode before you commit to anything.

Selling a car

Listing, pricing, inspection and getting paid.

Nothing. Listing is free, there is no subscription, and you are charged only if a deal closes successfully.

Every listing gets a data-backed valuation based on the make, model, variant, year, kilometres, ownership history and live market activity for comparable cars. You can also ask for an instant estimate before you list — see the Know Value page.

A Ukki-certified inspector comes to the car and runs a 200-point physical check covering the engine and transmission, underbody and suspension, brakes and tyres, electricals, body and paint, and the documents and odometer. The result is an honest condition report that both sides see — it is not a sales pitch, and a car that has problems will say so.

The buyer transfers the full amount to Ukki before the car moves, so you can see the funds are real and committed. Ukki releases the payment to your account once the agreed milestones are met — normally after the car has been inspected and delivered, and the ownership transfer has been filed.

Yes. This is one of the harder parts of a private sale and Ukki handles it. The outstanding loan is settled from the buyer’s payment, we collect the NOC and the original documents from your financier, and the balance is released to you. You do not have to fund the closure out of pocket first.

Buying a car

Confidence before you pay, and protection after.

Two ways. Every deal includes a certified physical inspection whose report you see before the money is released, and every seller is identity-verified. You are not relying on photographs and a stranger’s word.

You can walk away. Because your payment is held by Ukki and not passed to the seller until the agreed milestones are met, stepping back after a bad report means your funds are returned to you — see the Refund Policy for how and when.

Yes. You can apply for a loan from Ukki’s partner banks inside the deal itself. If it is approved, the loan amount is paid straight into the deal, so there is no separate disbursal to chase and no second round of paperwork.

Doorstep pickup and delivery is the one service charged separately from the platform fee, because the cost depends on the distance involved. You see the exact amount before you confirm it — nothing is added afterwards.

Payments & fees

What you pay, and how the money is protected.

A platform fee of 1% of the agreed price from the buyer and 1% from the seller, charged only when a deal closes successfully. That covers the inspection, the verification, the paperwork and the RC transfer. Delivery is charged separately. There are no listing fees and no subscriptions.

The buyer never pays the seller directly. Money moves into an account controlled by Ukki, where it stays visible to both sides but frozen, and is released to the seller only once the agreed milestones — typically inspection and delivery — are complete. Neither party has to move first and hope.

Money that has not been released is returned to the buyer. Where a service has already been performed — a completed inspection, a trip the logistics partner has already made — that portion may be retained. The Refund Policy sets out each case precisely.

No. The deal screen itemises every rupee — the platform fee, the delivery charge if you have opted for it, and any RTO fees payable to the government — before you confirm. If a number is not on that screen, you will not be charged it.

Verification & safety

Who you are dealing with, and how we know.

Because the single biggest risk in a private car sale is not knowing who is on the other side. Every buyer and seller completes Aadhaar-anchored verification, a PAN check and a liveliness (face) check before a deal can progress. There are no anonymous transactions on Ukki.

They are used to verify that you are who you say you are, and to meet the legal requirements that apply to an ownership transfer and to regulated payments. We collect only what a deal needs and we do not sell personal data. The Privacy Policy explains exactly what is stored, for how long, and who it is shared with.

Deal conversations happen inside Ukki, so you do not have to hand out your personal number to enquire about a car or negotiate a price.

Report it from the deal screen or write to support@ukki.in. Because every account is KYC-verified, accounts that misrepresent a vehicle, attempt to move a transaction off-platform, or abuse another user can be suspended — and there is a real identity behind every one of them.

Paperwork & delivery

The RC transfer, the RTO, and getting the car home.

Yes, end to end. We collect the documents from both sides, prepare Forms 29 and 30, obtain the NOC where a loan or an inter-state move is involved, file with the RTO and follow it through to the updated registration certificate. You can track each stage from the deal screen.

The paperwork is prepared within days, but the final RTO turnaround depends on the regional office and the state — it is the one part of the journey that is not entirely in our hands. You get a status update at every stage instead of silence.

The policy needs to be transferred to the new owner alongside the RC. Ukki flags this as part of the ownership-transfer stage so it does not get forgotten — which is a common and expensive oversight in private sales.

Yes. Pickup and delivery run through vetted logistics partners with insured transit and live location tracking, so you can see where the car is on the way.

Ask us about a deal in progress, a car you are considering, or a partnership. If you would rather read first, the Terms and the Refund Policy spell out every case in full.
